Inbetweeners actor gives disappointing update about the situation regarding a reunion, while claiming that he ‘cannot remember’ any lines from the show.

The actor, who is 40 years old, featured in the sitcom with Joe Thomas, Blake Harrison, and James Buckley about four awkward adolescent boys, which lasted two years starting in 2008 and was followed by The Inbetweeners Movie and then The Inbetweeners 2, in 2011 and 2014 consecutively.

Not implying that Bruce did, but despite a great deal of optimism and speculation amongst the fans, Bird said there is no expectation anymore for him to regroup with Thomas, Buckley and Harrison in any Inbetweeners related projects.

To the MailOnline Bird said: “I apologise for being that person who rains on everyone’s parade but it’s not happening. I can tell you in no uncertain terms that there is no chance of any such reunion”.

He reiterated: “They would like it but it’s not in our hands, it is in the hands of writers, Morris and Beesley, and I believe both these people are very occupied nowadays.”

“Unfortunately, it is not any more likely to happen today than it did ten years ago,” Bird concluded.

“Furthermore, this was a comedy – this is habitual of such time period,” he added. “So, no, this has been the last discussion there is no thought plotting a new show or a new film.”

“There is no way we past teens anymore so none is going to buy us as teenagers any more,” he told Screen Daily.

“When we were shooting it in the past I would imagine the four of us coming back together and probably it is going to be a lot more sad and depressing this time around for everyone. It would be impossible for me to imagine us doing that thing anymore.”

Bird is the most recent of the Inbetweeners cast to dismiss a reboot along with Buckley who played Jay in the series who said when Channel 4 put out a much-derided ( to say the least) broadcast of the Inbetweeners Are Back in early 2019 it was such a train wreck that he did not even want to think of the show again.

When the series returned, it was advanced by comedian, Jimmy Carr who hosted the actors of the show participating in what is called an Inbetweeners quiz, which involved fake awards being given, and showing footages of the show. Critics blasted the two-hour special as ‘a shambles’ and Buckley issued an apology for it later on Twitter.

“I think as an idea it was perhaps too soon to have deployed that particular reunion. Buckley would later go on to explain to Heart radio, their audience in effect “Box1”.

”Me in regard, as I said, my time as far as The Inbetweeners goes. I’ve said it; I do not want to poke fun anymore.”
